(These
systems can be used a simple solar stand-alone system for off grid
uses)
Solar hot water systems use infra-red radiation from the sun
to heat hot water, unlike photovolyaic panels which use light
from the sun to create electricity. Thermal efficiency is initially
high (50% - 60%) until the water in the tank starts to approach
its desired temperature, and then drops off to avoid over-heating.
Standard panels heat water to approximately three times maximum
daily temperature, whilst special titanium panels can achieve
4 times max. daily temerature. This means that on a 20°
C day, hot water can achieve 80° C in the tank. All systems
come with a back-up electric element for cloudy days, or an
optional Natural Gas or LPG back-up.
Solar hot water systems are the most effective way to save on
Greenhouse gases and save on your electricity bill at the same
time. |

damage)
Most efficient brand on the market
(e.g. Edwards LX3052 Titan)
Easy availability of units (and spare
parts if ever needed)
All colourbond colours are also available

Qualify for Renewable Energy Certificates
(RECs) rebate (to approved installations)
Before deciding
on a solar hot water system, consider if your roof is suitable.
The best roof faces North, gets good sun without much shading and
has a pitch of 20 to 30 degrees. We can correct poor orientation
or pitch with our special mounting frames, but for shading we recommend
a good chainsaw!
